/ design insight
To make women’s safety apps more practical, I focused on minimizing effort during emergencies by adding customizable options, on-screen or lock-screen widgets, and gesture controls for quick access. To create a private, men-free space, I proposed gender verification during registration using identity proof through third-party apps. Lastly, to meet women’s diverse needs, the app includes period and pregnancy trackers, calendars, and a repository of health-related information—all in one platform to reduce reliance on multiple apps.

The app prioritizes women’s safety with real-time incident reporting, danger zone alerts, and SOS features, all easily accessible via gestures or widgets. Emergency contacts,
location sharing, and crisis hotlines are available directly from the home or lock screen. With quick access to medical profiles, notifications, and a supportive community, women can stay safe and connected in any situation.

To create the perfect solution, I pretty much had to bother my girl bestie day and night, making her the mastermind behind the app’s strategy. She became the unsung hero, turning my chaotic ideas into something actually usable!

/ ABOUT THE PROJECT
She Matters is an app I designed for the Salesforce Design Days Competition, which aimed to tackle women-related challenges through innovative solutions. My approach was to address these issues using thoughtful UI and UX design, creating a platform that prioritizes safety, support, and empowerment for women. The idea was to combine technology with community-driven features to make a meaningful impact.
The app includes tools like live location sharing and emergency SOS alerts to ensure users feel secure. It also offers community support and health resources, creating a space where women’s voices are heard and valued. The goal was to build not just an app but a thriving community centered on safety and well-being.
